Dylan Smith joins the CAA from St. John’s University, where he has served as Director of Athletic Communications since 2022. During his time with the Red Storm, Smith worked as the primary media contact for men’s soccer and baseball in addition to secondary responsibilities for men’s basketball.

In his new role at the CAA, Smith will be the primary contact for men’s basketball while also working with women’s soccer, volleyball, women’s lacrosse, softball and men’s and women’s golf.

Prior to St. John’s, Smith spent a year in Washington D.C. as the assistant director of athletic communications for Georgetown University. While with the Hoyas, he oversaw media relations for baseball, football and swimming & diving while also serving as the secondary contact for men’s basketball.

In addition to his collegiate experience. Smith spent a season as the communications assistant for the Reno Aces, the Triple-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks. He handled media requests while writing pregame and postgame recaps, feature stories and game notes for the Biggest Little City’s team.

The Long Island, N.Y., native is a 2018 graduate of Susquehanna University. Smith jumpstarted his sports career as a student worker for the River Hawks before a brief stint as interim sports information director in November 2016. From there, he spent two years as a graduate assistant in the St. John’s athletic communications department from 2018-20, while earning a master’s degree in sports management. In his first go-around with the Johnnies, he worked with nearly all 17 sports, most frequently men’s and women’s basketball, softball and track & field and cross country.
