André Bean serves as the primary administrator for student-athlete engagement, including SAAC and conference outreach initiatives. In addition, he works as the primary administrator for the CAA United For Change committee and oversees the league’s DEIB initiatives. Bean assists with compliance and governance matters as well as general championship operations.
Bean comes to the CAA from Kansas State University, where he worked for nearly three years with the Evans Competitive Advantage Program and was promoted to Assistant Athletics Director in 2023. He oversaw the Student-Athlete Development department for all 14 KSU sports programs. Those responsibilities included coming up with programing for professional, leadership and personal development, diversity and inclusion and community service. Bean served as the Chief Diversity Officer for Kansas State, where he collaborated with the Big 12 Conference and the NCAA. He participated in the recruitment of prospective student-athletes and cultivated relationships with external community partners to enhance the relationship within the Kansas State athletic department.
Prior to his time at Kansas State, Bean worked as Coordinator of Student-Athlete Development at the University of Oregon and he previously served as an Academic Advisor at Old Dominion University. He also spent time at Wheaton College, Eastern Connecticut State University, University of California, Berkeley and Hampton University.
Bean received his bachelor's degree from Norfolk State University, where he was a three-year letterwinner for the football team and a member of the SAAC group. He earned a master’s degree in Sports Administration from Hampton University.
