CAA Football Offensive Player of the Week
Christian Summers, Sr., WR, Towson (Drexel Hill, Pa./Valley Forge Military College)
Summers made six receptions for 232 yards and two touchdowns as Towson came from behind to beat St. Francis (Pa.), 35-28, on Saturday. The senior wide receiver tied the game at 28-28 late in the third quarter by catching a ball in the flat and racing 94 yards for the second-longest play in school history. With just 2:21 remaining in the game, he made a diving 43-yard touchdown catch that proved to be the game-winner. Summers’ 232 receiving yards were the fifth-most in school history.
CAA Football Defensive Player of the Week
Brandon Waller, Jr., DL, Richmond (Ardmore, Pa./Haverford)
Waller recorded a career-high nine tackles, a sack, 2.5 tackles for loss and a pair of quarterback hurries as Richmond blanked Norfolk State, 34-0, on Saturday. The junior defensive lineman led a Spiders’ defense that held NSU to just 122 total yards and recorded their first shutout since 2014.
CAA Football Special Teams Player of the Week
Rashard Davis, Sr., WR, James Madison (Charlottesville, Va./Charlottesville)
Davis returned a punt 75 yards for a touchdown as James Madison defeated Central Connecticut State, 56-21, on Saturday. It was the second consecutive week that Davis has taken a punt to the end zone after having a 76-yard TD return a week ago against Morehead State.
CAA Football Rookie of the Week
Pop Lacey, Fr, S, New Hampshire (Reading, Pa./Berks Catholic)
Lacey recorded a game-high 14 tackles, including 12 solo, as New Hampshire rallied past Holy Cross, 39-28, on Saturday. The true freshman safety also had a pass breakup as the Wildcats limited the Crusaders to seven second-half points.
