RICHMOND, Va. (November 10, 2016) – University of Delaware senior Guillermo Delgado was named the 2016 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Men’s Soccer Player of the Year while Hofstra University earned three of the four major honors presented by the conference. Pride freshman forward Luke Brown was named the CAA Rookie of the Year, senior Harri Hawkins was named the CAA Defender of the Year while Pride Head Coach Richard Nuttall was the unanimous choice for CAA Coach of the Year.

Delgado picked up the second CAA Player of the Year honor of his career after leading the league in scoring this season. He also earned his fourth consecutive selection to the All-CAA First Team. A MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List member, Delgado posted 11 goals and eight assists for 30 points, which ranks him in the top-15 nationally. The NCAA’s career active leader in goals and points, Delgado set the UD record for points this season. He’s the first player in the CAA since 2003 to notch 40-plus goals and 100-points in a career. He stands fifth all-time in CAA history with 115 points and is tied for sixth in league history with 48 goals.

Hawkins, an All-CAA First Team honoree for the third straight year, continued to be the conference's most solid defender in his final campaign. He started all 17 games, helping the team shut down its opponents as a vocal leader on the backline. With Hawkins leading the way, the Pride allowed just two shots on goal in its first three conference games, all shutouts.

Brown, who landed a spot on the All-CAA Second Team and the CAA All-Rookie Team, led the Pride and all rookies in scoring this season. He tallied seven goals and two assists for 16 points over 17 games. He was named the CAA Rookie of the Week twice this season.

Nuttall earned his second-straight CAA Coach of the Year award after guiding the Pride to their third-straight CAA Regular Season Championship. Hofstra went 7-1-0 in league play this season and 9-7-1 overall to earn recognition in the national polls.

Including Hawkins, the Pride had three first team All-CAA honorees. Junior midfielder Meshack Eshun-Addy (6g, 2a) earned his first selection while senior midfielder Joseph Holland landed a spot on the team for the third-straight season. Holland tallied three goals and eight assists this season.

Joining Delgado on the All-CAA First Team from Delaware were senior midfielder Thomas de Villardi (2g, 3a), who earned his second-straight honor, fifth-year defender Ben Sampson (4g) and redshirt-sophomore goalkeeper Todd Morton, both of whom earned the honor for the first time. Morton posted a 1.10 GAA with 63 saves this season.

Elon junior forward Elijah Agu was selected to the All-CAA First Team after a breakout season. Entering the year with just one career goal, Agu finished the season tied for the league lead with 11 goals and second in the conference in points (23).

Rounding out the All-CAA First Team was UNCW junior forward Julio Moncada (8g, 3a), William & Mary’s Antonio Bustamante (9g, 4a) and College of Charleston junior defender Leland Archer (1g, 2a).

The 2016 CAA Men’s Soccer Championship continues on Friday, November 11 with semifinal play in Hempstead, N.Y. Second-seeded Delaware faces sixth-seeded College of Charleston at 4:30pm followed by fifth-seeded William & Mary versus top-seeded Hofstra at 7:00pm.
