RICHMOND, Va. (November 4, 2015) - On Wednesday morning, the CAA announced weekly award winners in women's swimming and diving. For the second straight week, Delaware senior
Morgan Whyte grabbed the top swimming nod, this time sharing the honor with Towson freshman
Ashley Illenye. The Women's Diver of the Week award was given to Drexel senior
Madison Kramer.
Whyte, for the second time in as many weeks, impressed in both the 50 and 100-yard free events as the Blue Hens earned wins over UNCW and William & Mary in a CAA POD Meet over the weekend in Newark. She touched the wall in the 50-yard free with a time of 23.71 - good for first place - and that time still ranks second among CAA competitors so far this season for the event. In the 100-yard free, the Chevy Chase, Md., native won first with a blazing time of 51.42, which now leads the CAA this season.
Illenye recorded a pair of career-bests over the weekend as the Tigers swept the George Mason POD Meet. The freshman won the 1,650-yard free event in 17:07.73, good for second among CAA swimmers this fall and one spot behind teammate Macey Arnold, and also registered a lifetime best in the 200-yard fly, winning the event in 2:04.28 - good for the new current top time in the conference. On top of the lifetime bests, Illenye also won the 500-yard free (5:00.64).
Kramer was a bright spot for the Dragons over the weekend at the same George Mason POD Meet. The senior captured both the 1 and 3-meter boards, with respective, and solid, scores of 282.15 and 298.80.
