RICHMOND, Va. - CAA Football announced its week one conference awards on Monday, with Richmond quarterback Michael Strauss, UAlbany linebacker Neil Morrison, William & Mary kicker John Carpenter and Richmond running back Jeremiah Hamlin earning recognition.
 
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Michael Strauss  |  QB  |  Richmond
  • -Went 17-of-23 for 259 yards in Richmond’s 55-10 win over Morehead State.
  • -Tossed three touchdown passes in the game, moving into third on Richmond’s all-time list with 38 in his career.
  • -Two of his touchdown passes came in the first half, helping UR take a 25-3 lead into the break.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Neil Morrison  |  LB  |  UAlbany
  • -With UAlbany trailing Holy Cross 13-6 with under a minute remaining, picked up a fumble and returned it 79 yards for the game-winning touchdown.
  • -Posted eight total tackles in the game, including half a tackle-for-loss.
  • -Helped UAlbany’s defense hold Holy Cross to an average of just 2.9 yards on 41 rushing attempts in the game.
 
Special Teams Player of the Week
John Carpenter  |  PK  |  William & Mary
  • -Connected on field goals of 44 yards, 36 yards and 29 yards against ACC-foe Virginia Tech, accounting for all of William & Mary’s scoring.
  • -His three made field goals matched a career high.
  • -Also averaged 65 yards on four kickoffs, including one touchback.
 
Rookie of the Week
Jeremiah Hamlin  |  RB  |  Richmond
  • -Rushed for a game-high 80 yards for the Spiders, including a pair of touchdowns.
  • -Averaged 11.4 yards-per-carry in his first collegiate contest.
  • -His 44-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter was the longest rushing play of the game.
