CAA FOOTBALL PRESEASON ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM, ORDER OF FINISH

BALTIMORE, Md. –
CAA Football announced its preseason All-Conference Team and predicted order of finish for the 2014 season on Wednesday, in conjunction with the league’s annual Media Day.

CAA Football is coming off a 2013 season in which two teams – New Hampshire and Towson – reached the NCAA Division I Football Championship semifinals, with the Tigers becoming the 10th team in conference history to reach the national title game.

CAA Football returns eight 2013 All-Americans this season, and has five student-athletes on watch lists for the Walter Payton Award and Buck Buchanan Award – the top individual honors in the FCS.

Villanova quarterback John Robertson and William & Mary defensive lineman Mike Reilly are the conference’s preseason Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year.

Robertson averaged 305.6 yards of total offense last season, ranking second in the CAA and ninth in the nation. He was selected to the 2013 College Sports Journal All-America First Team.

Robertson has also been named to the Payton Award watch list and the TSN preseason All-America squad for 2014.

Reilly registered 11 sacks in 2013 – good for first in the conference and second in the FCS. He also posted 13 tackles-for-loss and four forced fumbles, earning AP and College Sporting News All-America accolades.

In advance of the 2014 season, Reilly has been selected to the Buchanan Award watch list and the preseason TSN All-America Team.

Overall, William & Mary leads the preseason All-CAA Football Team with seven selections.

The CAA Football preseason predicted order of finish, meanwhile, is topped by New Hampshire, which tied for second in the conference standings last year.  UNH has reached 10-straight FCS postseasons, the longest current streak in the country.

The preseason All-CAA Football Team and predicted order of finish were voted on by the conference’s head coaches and communications personnel. A complete list of the All-Conference Team and predicted order of finish can be found at the link above.
