CAA ANNOUNCES MOST COMPREHENSIVE BASKETBALL TELEVISION PACKAGE IN CONFERENCE HISTORY WITH OVER 100 GAMES

RICHMOND, Va. (October 25, 2007) - The Colonial Athletic Association, coming off another outstanding season in both men’s and women’s basketball, today released the most comprehensive television schedule in the CAA’s 23-year history with more than 100 games scheduled to be broadcast.
The 95-game men’s basketball composite broadcast slate features 38 appearances on the various ESPN platforms, including four regular-season games and the CAA Championship on ESPN/ESPN2, 14 games on ESPNU and six syndicated games on ESPN Regional Television. The largest-ever Comcast syndicated package features more than 40 games syndicated on the Comcast family of Networks (Comcast SportsNets, SportsNet New York, CSS, CN8), allowing consistent exposure in many of the nation’s largest media markets.
The women’s basketball composite television schedule includes 11 regular-season conference matchups as well as the CAA Women’s Basketball Championship semifinals and championship game. In total, 17 games will be televised throughout the CAA footprint.
“The continued success of our men’s and women’s basketball programs over the past couple of years combined with the outstanding relationships we have developed with Comcast SportsNet, CN8 and ESPN have once again allowed us to put together an impressive television package,” said CAA Commissioner Tom Yeager. “We appreciate the commitment made by our institutions to promote their programs and are very excited that CAA fans throughout our geographic footprint will be able to watch their teams perform on television many times throughout the season.”
CAA TELEVISION PACKAGE HIGHLIGHTS:
- A minimum of 38 appearances on the various ESPN platforms, including at least four regular-season games on ESPN2, 29 appearances on ESPNU and ESPN Regional Television and the CAA Championship game on ESPN.
- Over 40 games in a widely-syndicated Comcast/CN8 package, featuring a cumulative total of 60-plus CAA appearances available in the New York, Philadelphia, Boston, Washington, DC, Baltimore, Richmond, Norfolk and Atlanta television markets, reaching a potential audience of over 20 million TVHH;
- Seven games (Four Quarterfinals, two Semifinals and the Championship) of the CAA Men’s Basketball Championship available either regionally or nationally.
- An expanded Women’s Basketball package with at least 11 regular season CAA games (17 total) ;
- Regional syndication of both CAA Women’s Basketball semifinal games and the CAA Championship game.
