CAA Women's Cross Country Weekly Honors - Sept. 24
RICHMOND, Va. (September 24, 2013) – Towson junior Elizabeth Tauber collected CAA Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week honors for the second straight week after setting a new school record in a 5K, capturing the Towson Invitational individual title on Saturday.
Tauber, who earned the same honor last week after finishing second at the Delaware Invitational, cruised through the Oregon Ridge Park course Saturday in 17:52.18 to set a new Towson record. The Tigers finished fourth as a team at the event, with fellow CAA members James Madison, Delaware and College of Charleston finishing ahead in first, second and third place, respectively.
Tauber’s time broke Katie Ogden’s previous mark of 18:00.59 set in 2011. It was also the eighth-fastest performance in Oregon Ridge Park history (5K). Not far behind the Tiger junior were James Madison’s Jenna Flickinger (17:57.78) and a pair of Delaware Blue Hens, Lindsay Prettyman (17:59.80) and Emily Gispert (18:10.55).
In other CAA women’s cross country news, William & Mary senior runner Christina Lee was the Tribe’s top finisher at the W&M Invitational, registering a time of 18:53.4 on the 5K Dunbar Farms course. Northeastern freshman Lucy Young placed eighth at the Br. Doyle Meet of Champions hosted by Iona College this weekend with a time of 22:54.18 (6K).
