CofC’s Fuenfstueck Garners CAA Women’s Golfer of the Week Honors – Oct. 9
RICHMOND, Va. (October 9, 2013) – College of Charleston freshman Laura Fuenfstueck earned CAA Women’s Golfer of the Week accolades after winning individual medalist honors at the Charleston Southern Wendy’s Invitational.
Fuenfstueck paced the Cougars to a first-place team finish on the par 72, 6,100-yard Rivertowne Country Club course. The rookie captured her first collegiate victory after carding 68-71-76-215 (-1) and won by three shots in front of the runner-up. The Frankfurt, Germany native, ranked No. 69 among Division I leaders by GolfStat.com, shot her lowest single round (68) en route to her lowest three-round score of her young career.
The Cougars are currently ranked at No. 45 by GolfStat.com and No. 38 by Golf Week as teammates Kathryn Miranda and Louise Olsson finished tied for third (223) in the CSU Wendy’s Invitational. Miranda is ranked 86th by GolfStat.com.
Among other strong marks from last week, Richmond and Towson joined Charleston’s A and B teams at the CSU Wendy’s Invitational. The Spiders were led by senior Lauren Conder, who also tied for third place with Miranda and Olsson, carding 75-73-75—223. Richmond sophomore Jessica Lydia followed closely in eighth place (224) as the Spiders earned a sixth-place team finish.
