Drexelís Palik Named CAA Wrestler of the Week, ODUís Mecate Selected as CAA Rookie of Week

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ-Brandon Palik of Drexel University has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Wrestler of the Week and Chris Mecate of Old Dominion University is the CAA Rookie of the Week, for all competition February 5-11.

Palik, a junior from Bethlehem, PA (Saucon Valley), is the second ranked 197 in the CAA and 20th in the nation.  He went 2-0 last week with a tech fall and a major decision. His major decision was over the third ranked CAA wrestler from Rider.

With the victories Palik improves to 22-3 on the season, 4-0 in CAA duals.

Mecate, a freshman 141 from Highland, California (Redlands East Valley), defeated a top-20 wrestler from Virginia last week, a former NCAA qualifier, for his 32nd win of the season.  It was the seven consecutive win for Mecate, the second ranked 141 in the CAA who is ranked 15th by Amateur Wrestling News, 16th by InterMat.
