Field Set for 2013 CAA Softball Championship
The field and pairings are set for the 2013 CAA Softball Championship, which will be held May 8-10 at Hofstra Softball Stadium in Hempstead, N.Y.
The four-team double-elimination tournament opens at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday as top-seeded Hofstra (40-11, 18-2 CAA) takes on fourth-seeded Towson (29-26-1, 11-10 CAA). At 5:00 p.m., second-seeded James Madison (39-13, 18-3 CAA) meets third-seeded Delaware (35-20, 12-9 CAA).
Thursday's schedule features three games starting at Noon, 2:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. The championship game is set for Noon on Friday. There is no admission charge for the tournament, and the winner will receive the conference's automatic to the NCAA Tournament.
Hofstra captured the nine of the last 11 CAA softball titles from 2002-12 and advanced to the NCAA Super Regional a year ago. James Madison will be making its ninth appearance at the CAA championship and look to take the title for the first time since 2009. Delaware will be making its third straight appearance in the tournament since 2006 and Towson returns to the tournament field for the first time since 2011 and ninth time overall.
