CAA MEN’S LACROSSE PLAYER & ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Nick Mariano • Massachusetts

Mariano earned CAA Player & Rookie of the Week honors netting four goals to spur the Minutemen in their 12-11 defeat of No. 14/9 Ohio State in overtime at the Moe’s Southwest Grill Classic in Jacksonville, Fla., on Sunday evening. The rookie scored once each in the first, second and fourth quarters, before netting the overtime game-winner with 7.9 seconds left. Mariano scooped up three ground balls, including the final one of the game with 1:24 left in the OT stanza to extend UMass’ last possession and set himself up for the thrilling game-ender. 

CAA MEN’S LACROSSE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Cole Shafer • Drexel
Fr., A, Coquitlam, B.C., Canada/Charles Best

Shafer received CAA Rookie of the Week honors after scoring four goals during his collegiate debut in the Dragons’ opener against No. 7/8 Virginia. The rookie scored three straight goals to tie the game in the third and fourth quarters after Drexel was down 9-6. Shafer netted his first goal of the game in the first quarter and finished the game scoring on four of his six shots on goal (.750).
