Drexel’s Crawford, UNCW’s McLeod Collect CAA Men’s Golfer of the Week Honors – Sept. 25

RICHMOND, Va. (September 25, 2013) – Drexel sophomore Christopher Crawford and UNCW senior Payne McLeod were selected as the CAA Men’s Golfers of the Week after stellar finishes in their respective tournaments.

Crawford earned a first-place finish at the Cornell Invitational with a score of 210 (71-70-69) on the par 71, 6,904-yard Robert Trent Jones Golf Course. The sophomore’s victory marked his third career tournament triumph.  Crawford’s 3-under finish helped the Dragons to a second-place team finish at the event.  Towson’s team placed first in the event, led by freshman Juan Veloza (75-72-75—222, 7th).

McLeod posted his first top-10 finish of the season and the 14th of her career by finishing second at the Rees Jones Invitational. The senior carded 71-70-75—216 (E) on the par 72, 7,380-yard Haig Point Course. McLeod helped the Seahawks to a fourth-place team finish, in front of nationally-ranked Liberty while finishing behind 20th-ranked South Carolina by seven strokes. McLeod recorded 12 birdies, while the Seahawks as a team tallied 44 birdies (#birdies4kaitlyn) on the weekend to raise its total to 85 on the season.
