Towson’s Spiess Named CAA Women’s Golfer of the Week – Sept. 25
RICHMOND, Va. (September 25, 2013) – Towson sophomore Larissa Spiess earned CAA Women’s Golfer of the Week honors after winning the individual title at the Chesapeake Bay Invitational.
Spiess carded a 148 (72-76) to best second-place finisher Isabella Lambert of Butler by three strokes on the par 72, 6,017-yard Naval Academy Golf Club Course. The sophomore, who earned her second career title, tied the school record for low round with an even-par 72 during the first round on Sunday. She posted four birdies and an eagle during the round. Spiess led the Tigers to a second place team finish out of seven squads.
In other outstanding golf news around the league, UNCW senior Lori Beth Adams earned a 10th place finish at the Lady Paladin Invitational. Adams posted a score of 70-76-71—217 (+1) on the par 72, 6,266-yard Furman University Golf Course for her 12th top 10 finish of her career. College of Charleston freshman Laura Fuenfstueck placed tied for 16th at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate after carding 75-70—145 in a rain-shortened tournament at the par 71, 5,897-yard Cherokee Country Club.
