Delaware’s Prettyman Earns CAA Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week Honors – Sept. 3

RICHMOND, Va. (September 3, 2013) – Delaware senior Lindsay Prettyman collected CAA Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week honors after leading the Blue Hens in the Mount St. Mary’s 5K Duals.

Prettyman led the Blue Hens as she covered the 5K course in a time of 18:30.62 for a fourth-place finish, helping Delaware defeat host Mount St. Mary’s, American, George Washington, and Maryland, while falling to Navy, which won all five of its competitions. Prettyman has now led the team in 12 straight meets and in 15 of the last 16 since the 2011 campaign.

Among other noteworthy performances during the first week of the 2013 cross country season, College of Charleston junior Trish Rein tabbed a new collegiate personal record as she led the Cougars with a sixth-place finish with an overall time of 19:03.58 on the 5K course. Towson junior Elizabeth Tauber led the Tigers to a team title at the Baltimore Metro Meet (5K) at Goucher College. The junior runner won the race with a final time of 19:15.93. Hofstra sophomore Becky Celorio led Hofstra for the eighth consecutive time as she posted a fifth-place finish at the Fr. Laurence O’Neil Cross Country Invitational (4K) with a time of 16:54, just 31 seconds behind the meet winner.
