CAA Announces Basketball Broadcast Package
BALTIMORE, Md. (October 22, 2013) – The Colonial Athletic Association announced a comprehensive men’s and women’s basketball broadcast package that will eventually include approximately 100 televised games. The announcement was made during the conference’s Media Day festivities on Tuesday at the Renaissance Harborplace Hotel in Baltimore, Md.
As of press time, CAA teams will be featured in 70 televised games thanks in large part to the conference’s agreements with NBC Sports Network and the Comcast SportsNet regional networks. Additional games will be added to the television schedule prior to the start of the regular season. CAA fans will also be provided with internet broadcasts of hundreds of additional games through CAA.TV and the digital packages at CAA institutions, allowing the opportunity to view almost every game.
“We’re pleased with the exposure our players and coaches will receive through our national television package with the NBC Sports Network and the syndicated regional coverage provided by the Comcast SportsNets ,” said CAA Commissioner Tom Yeager. “In addition, our member schools continue to enhance their internet broadcast packages, giving fans the opportunity to watch every conference game.”
NBC Sports Network, which is available in over 80 million homes, will present 12 CAA men’s basketball games to a national television audience this season, including the semifinals and finals of the CAA Men’s Basketball Championship.
The syndicated package on the Comcast family of networks features 29 men’s games on the Comcast SportsNets (CSN Mid-Atlantic, CSN Philadelphia, CSN New England), CSS and The Comcast Network, providing tremendous exposure in many of the nation’s largest media markets. Comcast SportsNet, SportsNet New York and CSS will once again televise the quarterfinals of the CAA Men’s Basketball Championship.
In addition, CAA teams will make appearances on the ESPN family of networks, and other contests will be televised by CBS Sports Network, the Big Ten Network, the Pac 12 Network, and the ACC Regional Network.
The women’s basketball composite television schedule currently includes nine games, with several more expected to be added to the list. Six regular-season conference matchups as well as the CAA Women’s Basketball Championship semifinals and championship game will air on Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic and New England, The Comcast Network and CSS.
