RICHMOND, Va. (September 18, 2013) – UNCW senior Ryan Nagy was named the CAA Men’s Golfer of the Week with a strong finish at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate.

Nagy tied for 13th place after carding 71-75-72—218 (+2) in the highly competitive field, including national powers Georgia Tech, Duke, North Carolina and N.C. State. The senior led the Seahawks to an eighth place team finish out of 14 squads on the par 72, 7,242-yard UNC Finley Golf Course. For Nagy, who recorded 10 birdies on the weekend, it was his first top-20 finish since the 2012 CAA Championships. He opened the third round in a tie for 24th, but fashioned an even-par-72 on Sunday to climb the standings. Nagy’s 10 birdies helped UNCW’s “Birdies for Kaitlyn” total climb to 41 on the season (#birdies4kaitlyn).

In other outstanding golf news around the league, Hofstra freshman David Won posted his second consecutive top 15 finish by tying for 12th at the Rutgers Invitational. The rookie shot 71-70-76—217 (+4) and tied for third in the 90-player field in par 3 scoring (3.00). He also finished tied for sixth in par 4 scoring at 4.15 and carded eight birdies and had 35 pars on the par 71, 6,337-yard Rutgers Golf Course.
