CAA Women's Soccer Weekly Honors - Aug. 26
WOMEN'S SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Emily Banes • Towson
Sr., Forward, Bethpage, N.Y./Bethpage
Banes scored two goals and assisted on a third in Towson’s 3-0 victory over Iona on Sunday afternoon. She found the net twice in less than three minutes early in the second half and then helped set up a score by Katie Ponce. It was the second career multi-goal game for Banes and the five-point performance was the best for a Tigers’ player since 2011.
WOMEN'S SOCCER ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:
Meghan Cox • James Madison
Fr., Midfielder, Springfield, Va./Robert E. Lee
Cox scored a goal in each of her first two collegiate games as James Madison went 1-1. The freshman gave the Dukes a 1-0 lead on a 20-yard shot in the 30th minute of a 4-1 triumph over Richmond on Friday. Cox also tallied the opening goal in JMU’s 2-1 setback to La Salle on Sunday as she found the net from 35 yards out in the 29th minute.
