RICHMOND, Va. (February 5, 2014) – Towson senior Ashleigh Rohrback, the 2013 CAA Co-Player of the Year, and Hofstra junior April Iannetta, last season’s Co-Defender of the Year, were selected as the 2014 Co-CAA preseason women's lacrosse Players of the Year in a vote by the league's head coaches.

Towson led the preseason all-conference team with five selections, while JMU had four players honored and Hofstra had three. Delaware, Drexel and William & Mary each had one player chosen to the squad.

A 2013 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches' Association (IWLCA) All-American and first team All-CAA selection in 2013, Iannetta is one of the league’s most-feared defenders. She registered 12 goals and six assists one year ago while making 19 starts. Iannetta led the Pride with 40 forced turnovers and was second in ground balls with 50. Last season, the Wantagh, N.Y., native ranked seventh in Division I in forced turnovers per game (2.11) and 20th in ground balls per game with (2.63).

Rohrback made her presence felt for the two-time defending CAA champion Towson Tigers last season despite missing the first six games of the year with an injury. A reigning first-team All-CAA member, Rohrback impressively led the league in assists (2.46) and points per game (3.92). The fifth-year senior finished the 2013 season with 32 total helpers, scored 19 goals and recorded multiple assists in 10 of the 13 games played.

Joining Rohrback on the preseason All-CAA team are fellow Tigers Andi Raymond, Katie Leech, Kaitlin Sheridan and Kelsea Donnelly. Raymond, an attacker, missed the entire 2013 season, but was named a first-team All-CAA member in 2012. Leech, a midfielder, started all 19 games for the Tigers last season and led the team with 42 draw controls. Sheridan (D) and Donnelly (GK) bolster a quality defensive unit. Donnelly finished second in the CAA with a .459 save percentage as a sophomore in 2013 while Sheridan had 20 caused turnovers.

James Madison senior attacker Amy Roguski and Hofstra junior attacker Brittain Altomare should supply plenty of offensive output for their respective teams in 2014. Roguski notched 34 goals as a junior (2.27 per game) and 41 points for the Dukes, while Altomare, an IWLCA second-team Mid-Atlantic member, had a spectacular 2013 season. She set a new program record with 35 assists on top of scoring 34 goals.

Rounding out the preseason squad are midfielders Caitlin McCartney (CAA-leading 2.93 GPG in 2013) of Delaware, Amanda Norcini of Drexel (20 G, 43 DC) and Hofstra’s Becky Conto (2013 CAA ROTY, league-high 3.06 DCPG). Ali Curwin of JMU and Taelor Salmon of William & Mary were also named to the All-CAA squad as midfielders.

JMU’s Lexi Cross, an All-CAA second-team defender in 2013 and the Dukes’ Schylar Healy, a first-team All-CAA goalkeeper last season, complete the official 2014 preseason team. Cross had 27 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers, and Healy posted a league-best .486 save percentage.
