Clifton earned Player of the Week honors after batting .533 (8-15) with three multi-hit games last week. The junior centerfielder compiled an on-base percentage of .588 to go with a slugging percentage of .933 and nine RBI. Clifton scored three runs in the Panthers 10-7 extra inning upset victory at No. 23 Georgia before she recorded a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the eighth to give GSU a 6-5 victory over Delaware in the series opener. The Locust Grove, Ga., also tabbed a three-hit game, including a home run and a triple, to help the Panthers top the Blue Hens, 8-0, in the first game of a doubleheader.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK:
Olivia Galati • Hofstra
West Babylon, N.Y./St. John the Baptist, Sr., Pitcher
Galati collected Pitcher of the Week honors after going 4-0 with a save in five Hofstra victories last week. The West Babylon, N.Y., native tossed two shutouts against James Madison, who entered the weekend with a 15-0 record in CAA play, and threw every pitch in Hofstra’s three game sweep. Galati struck out 23 JMU batters in 21 innings and held the Dukes to just nine hits. Overall, Galati finished with a 1.75 ERA to go along with 28 strikeouts and just two walks in 28 innings of work in the circle.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:
Katie Worley • Georgia State
Milton, Fla./Milton H.S., Fr., Pitcher
Worley received Rookie of the Week honors after compiling a perfect 3-0 record last week including a victory against No. 23 Georgia. The freshman pitcher tossed 6.0 innings of relief against the Bulldogs and tallied five strikeouts, while giving up just one walk. Worley also pitched her fourth complete game shutout of the season to help GSU complete a doubleheader sweep of Delaware. The Milton, Fla., native finished the week posting a 1.83 ERA with 13 strikeouts, putting her over the 100 mark for the season.
