MGolf Honors - Mar. 27
RICHMOND, Va. (March 27, 2013) – Hofstra’s Brandon Shin and UNCW’s Payne McLeod earned CAA Men’s Golfer of the Week honors after collecting individual titles at their respective tournaments.
Shin was medalist at the La Salle Invitational for the second consecutive year after shooting an even par (71) at the 6,400-yard Tallamore Country Club in Ambler, Pa. The tournament was cut from two rounds to one due to inclement weather forecasted for the second day of play. The sophomore from Granada Hills, Calif., finished his round with three birdies to help Hofstra claim the team title with a score of 296 (+12).
McLeod earned his first collegiate tournament victory by posting a two-round score of 143 (72-71) to win the Seahawk Intercollegiate by five shots. The junior was the lone golfer to card a below-par score (-1) in his final round at the par 72, 6,879-yard Country Club Course of Landfall-Nicklaus in Wilmington, N.C. It was McLeod’s third top-five finish of the season. He led the Seahawks to their first tournament win of the season with a one-stroke victory over 21st-ranked Kent State.
