CAA Field Hockey Weekly Honors -- Oct. 8
Michaela Patzner • Delaware
Rosenheim, Germany/Karolinen Gymnasium, So., Midfielder
Patzner helped the Blue Hens get back to their winning ways and played a large role in Delaware’s 2-0 weekend which included CAA victories over William & Mary (4-0), and James Madison (3-2). The sophomore, who also earned Player of the Week honors on Sept. 17, registered two goals in her team’s 4-0 victory over the Tribe on Friday in the league opener. On Sunday, UD trailed JMU 2-0 with less than 12 minutes to play, but two quick scores tied the game. Patzner then completed the impressive comeback by tallying the game-winning goal in the 68th minute. Thanks to Patzner’s contributions, the Hens remained undefeated at home this season with a 6-0 mark.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:
Natalie Stewart • Northeastern
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada/Carson Graham, Fr., Forward
Stewart became the first Northeastern player to earn weekly field hockey honors this season after coming up huge for the Huskies in the their only win of the week. The Canadian forward scored twice in a 5-3 triumph over La Salle, with both goals allowing NU to jump out to an important 2-1 halftime lead.
