CAA Field Hockey Weekly Honors -- Oct. 1
PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Jonel Boileau • Hofstra
Kelowna, BC, Canada/Kelowna Secondary, Jr., Forward
Boileau earned her second Player of the Week nod this season after registering three goals and three assists to help the Pride to a 1-1 record over the weekend. The Canadian forward played a large role in Hofstra starting league play in strong fashion on Friday, scoring two goals and dishing out three assists in a 5-4 win at Northeastern. The seven points in one contest equaled a career-high. On Sunday versus then-No. 20 Boston University, Boileau registered her team’s lone goal in a 3-1 loss and now has nine goals and five assists on the season.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:
Jessica McCarthy • Drexel
Haverford, Pa./Havertown, Fr., Midfield
McCarthy picked an ideal time to register her first collegiate goal and assist, as the Dragons defeated Rider, 2-1 on Wednesday. She tied the game with a tally early in the second half, then setup teammate Meghan Plank with just under six minutes remaining to secure the victory. The nearby, Haverford product again added to Drexel’s 2-0 week by scoring her team’s first goal in an eventual 2-1 double overtime win at Cornell on Sunday. The Dragons improved to 7-2 and are ranked for the second straight week.
