The William and Mary baseball team recently spent a day volunteering with the 2006 Richmond Heart Walk, an annual event held at the Richmond International Raceway that benefits the American Heart Association.
Tribe players assisted with the event in various capacities, including working the Kids Corner, the Tribute Area, parking services and helping disabled participants into the facility. Approximately 15,000 people participated in this year’s event.
“The William and Mary baseball student-athletes did a fantastic job of dealing with all situations and all participants,” said Julie Taylor, Senior Director of Corporate Relations for the Richmond Heart Walk. “I have received so many compliments from participants about the professionalism, the patience and the hard work of the baseball players. Without the Tribe baseball players, we would not have made it through the day.”
The Heart Walk is one of the nation’s premier walking events, and it serves to raise money and awareness about cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
