RICHMOND, Va. (January 21, 2014) – Northeastern junior Anna Schegoleva and James Madison redshirt freshman Taryn McLaughlin were honored on Tuesday as the CAA Women’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively.

Schegoleva became the first Husky to earn weekly league honors this season after an impressive weekend at UVM, where she registered three individual first-place finishes. It’s the second straight meet in which the Cyprus native has won three events, though on Saturday she won the 100 back (58.37), the 100 free (52.95) and the 100 butterfly (57.65). Schegoleva even helped lend a hand on the Huskies’ winning 200 medley relay team that kicked off the meet with a solid time of 1:48.12.

McLaughlin continues to impress for the Dukes despite being a redshirt first-year. It’s the fourth weekly honor of the season for the Hudson, Ohio product. McLaughlin captured first-place honors on the one-meter board with a score of 264.20, then placed second on the three-meter, tallying a mark of 254.40. Overall, she’s turned out five first-place performances this season alone.

UNCW sophomore Jenson Engen rounded out more action from around the CAA, earning two first-place individual finishes for the Seahawks versus Wingate last weekend. Engen recorded winning times of 1:04.14 in the 100 breast, 2:22.07 in the 200 breast and swam a leg on the winning 400 medley relay team, which registered a time of 3:24.63.
