14 CAA Field Hockey Standouts Earn NFHCA All-Region Honors

RICHMOND, Va. (November 19, 2013) –  A number of CAA field hockey standouts were honored Tuesday after being named to various 2013 Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-Region Teams.

A total of 14 players from six different CAA schools were named to the list which highlights some of the top field hockey players in Division I.

Five players, Drexel’s Lauren Hibshman and Lindsay McArdle, Delaware’s Michaela Patzner and Esmee Peet and Hofstra’s Jonel Boileau, earned first-team honors. Hibshman, McArdle, Patzner and Peet were named to the Mid-Atlantic Region, while Boileau was tabbed a first-team Mideast Region member.

The Dragons’ Hibshman and McArdle were also named to the All-CAA first team and CAA All-Tournament team. Hibshman started all of her team’s 19 games this season and had seven assists, good for No. 6 in the CAA. McArdle, the preseason Player of the Year, finished 2013 with six goals and 13 points.

Patzner and Peet played a huge role in helping the Blue Hens capture both the CAA regular season and tournament titles and reach the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2009. In her sophomore campaign, Patzner had a league-high 16 goals and also dished out nine assists. Peet, meanwhile, earned CAA Rookie and Player of the Year honors as a true freshman. The Netherlands native tallied 13 goals and six assists and led the CAA in shots (72).

Boileau started all 20 of the Pride’s games this season, leading the team in goals (13) and tied for the lead in assists with six. The junior finished third in the league in points (32, 1.60 per game) and goals as well.

Nine other players from around the CAA earned second-team All-Region honors. They were; Christina Conrad, Drexel (7g, 4a), Meghan Winesett, Delaware (9g, 9a), Stella Schoen, Hofstra (10g, 6a), Northeastern’s Lindsay Bennett (11g, 3 a), Natalie Stewart (4g, 4a) and Jessica Unger (1a), James Madison’s Amy Goldstein, the 2013 CAA Defensive Player of the year, (4g, 6a) and Taylor West (14g, 5a) and Pippin Saunders of William & Mary (7g, 9a).
