CAA Men's Soccer Weekly Honors - Oct. 21
PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Michele Pataia • Drexel
Jr., Midfielder, Saint German, France/Lycer International
Pataia contributed a goal and an assist in Drexel’s 2-1 victory at Delaware on Saturday which helped move the Dragons into first place in the CAA standings. The junior midfielder scored the Dragons’ first goal on a breakaway in the 19th minute and then assisted on a goal by Nathan Page that put Drexel ahead 2-0 in the 68th minute as the Hens fell at home for the first time this season. It was the most points for Pataia in a game since Sept. 22, 2012.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:
Mac Phillips • William & Mary
Fr., Goalkeeper, Rocky Mount, Va./Franklin County
Phillips posted back-to-back shutouts in William & Mary’s victories over Pittsburgh (2-0) and Northeastern (1-0) last week. The freshman made six saves as the Tribe handed the Huskies their first CAA loss of the year and stopped one shot in the road win over the Panthers. Phillips hasn’t allowed a goal over the last 330 minutes and leads the league in goals against average (0.59) and shutouts (7).
