RICHMOND, Va. (March 26, 2013) – William & Mary’s Rad Gunzenhauser has been named the CAA Men’s Track Athlete of the Week, while Northeastern’s Kaylin Miranda and the Tribe’s Austin Vegas picked up CAA Field Athlete of the Week honors for the week ending March 24. On the women’s side, W&M’s Elaina Balouris was recognized as the CAA Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, while Northeastern’s Nia Howard and George Mason’s Dominique Graham earned CAA Women’s Field Athlete of the Week honors.

Gunzenhauser picked up his first men’s Track Athlete of the Week award of the season after winning the 10,000 meters last Friday night at the Tribe Invitational. The Pittsburgh, Pa. native posted a winning time of 29.50.06, which is the fastest recorded time in the nation so far this season. It was a personal-best for the junior by over a minute, and ranks him 13th in school history.

Miranda and Vegas earned men’s Field Athlete of the Week awards after earning first-place finishes at their respective meets last weekend. Miranda captured gold in the long jump at the Victor Lopez Classic with a distance of 7.24m. The performance qualifies him for the New England Championships and is tied for the 21st best mark in the nation this season. Vegas captured the pole vault competition at the Tribe Invitational with a career-best jump of 4.80m (15-9), re-qualifying him for the IC4A Championship.

Balouris collected her first women’s Track Athlete of the Week award of the season after winning the 3,000 meters at the Tribe Invitational last Saturday. The Allison Park, Pa. native posted a winning time of 9:37.79 to qualify for the ECAC Championships. Her time is the fifth-best in the nation so far this season. Balouris also came home second in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:34.65.

Graham and Howard earned women’s Field Athlete of the Week awards after first-place efforts at their respective meets last weekend. Graham won gold in the high jump at the Tribe Invitational with a leap of 1.71m, qualifying her for the ECAC Championship. Howard took top honors in the long jump at the Victor Lopez Classic with a distance of 5.99m. Her jump is tied for the 17th-best mark in the nation this season and also qualified her for the New England Championships.
