With practice now underway for CAA men's basketball teams, we're taking an early look at all nine squads. Today we feature the Northeastern Huskies and the Towson Tigers.

QUICK HITS

Northeastern won its first CAA regular-season title in 2012-13 and advanced to the CAA championship game for the first time…The Huskies were 10-3 on the road last season, including 8-1 in CAA play…NU earned a berth in the NIT last season, which was its third postseason appearance in the last five years…Junior forward Quincy Ford earned third-team All-CAA honors after ranking among the league’s top 20 in scoring (12.2 ppg/18th), rebounding (5.8 rpg/15th) and steals (1.2 spg/15th)…Junior forward Reggie Spencer led the Huskies and was 13th in the CAA in rebounding (6.0 rpg). Spencer also added 9.8 ppg and shot a team-best 51.2% from the floor…Guard David Walker was a member of the CAA All-Rookie team in 2012-13. Walker was second on the team with 42 steals and scored 6.2 ppg.

QUICK HITS

Towson posted the biggest turnaround in NCAA history last season (+17.5 games) after improving from 1-31 overall to 18-13…The Tigers’ 13 CAA victories were their most ever and their 18 overall wins were the most since 1993-94…Senior Jerrelle Benimon, who was Towson’s first CAA Player of the Year, ranked 3rd in the nation in rebounding (11.7 rpg) and 2nd in double-doubles (20). He also was 4th in the CAA in scoring (17.1 ppg) and FG% (53.3%) and 3rd in blocks (1.9 bpg)…Marcus Damas scored double figures in nine of his last 10 games and was 22nd in the CAA in scoring…Point guard Jerome Hairston was second among all CAA freshmen in scoring (9.9 ppg) last season…Towson was 15th nationally in blocks (5.5 bpg) and rebound margin (+6.6 rpg) and 42nd in FG% defense (39.6%) in 2012-13.
