RICHMOND, Va. (October 19, 2011) - Georgia State's Tyler Gruca, James Madison's Chris Wellde and UNCW's Thomas Bass all earned CAA Men's Golfer of the Week honors after their strong play last week.

Wellde won medalist honors after a playoff at the Barnabas Health Intercollegiate to help James Madison to a first place team finish.  The senior birdied the 18th hole in the final round to finish at 1-over 73 on the day and even-par 144 for the tournament (71-73) finishing in a four-way tie for the top spot.  It was Wellde's first individual tournament victory, second career top-give, as well as his second-best 18-and 36-hole scores of his career. The event was played on the Fiddler's Elbow Country Club's par 72, 7,014-yard River Course.

Bass posted his second top-10 finish of the fall with a tie for sixth at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate. The junior shot 74-72-72-218 (+2) at the par 72, 7,147-yard Blackthorn Club in Jonesborough, Tenn. Bass topped five national-ranked players, including three in the top-10.  The Seahawks finished 8th out of 15 teams.

Gruca earned a career-best tie for seventh place at the inaugural AutoTrader.com Collegiate Classic hosted by Georgia State. The sophomore carded 72-72-71-215 (-1) at the Berkley Hills Country Club (72 par, 6,694-yards). The Panthers finished tied for 5th as Gruca led GSU to its best round of the season in the second round (288). Gruca has posted back-to-back top 15 finishes in the Panthers last two tournaments.
