CAA SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Missy McCormick • Towson
Las Vegas, Nev./Palo Verde, Jr., Pitcher/Outfielder
McCormick received CAA Softball Player of the Week accolades after leading the Tigers to a 3-1 record at the USC Upstate Classic last week. The junior hit .533 in four outings scoring five runs on eight hits. She also led the team with 13 RBI and added a pair of home runs, her first two of her career, and a double during her 15 at-bats. McCormick tied a school record with six RBI against North Carolina Central. The junior also pitched a complete game against Youngstown State recording the win, allowing three runs, one earned, on six hits.
CAA SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK:
Jailyn Ford • James Madison
Hot Springs, Va./Bath County, So., Pitcher
Ford earned CAA Pitcher of the Week honors after making three appearances for the Dukes in the circle with a 1.03 earned run average over 20.1 innings pitched at the Red & Black Showcase hosted by University of Georgia. The sophomore tossed a pair of complete games and came in for a third to pitch into extra innings. She recorded her 10th career shutout in the win over Winthrop. Ford fanned 23 batters on the week, while giving up 12 hits, four runs (three earned) and talking five. She finished the week with a 1-2 record, which included a close 2-0 loss to #21/23 Georgia.
CAA SOFTBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:
Peyton Jordan • UNCW
Waxhaw, N.C./Marvin Ridge, Fr., Pitcher
Jordan collected CAA Rookie of the Week accolades after a strong 1-1 start in the circle for the Seahawks. The freshman hurler did not allow an earned run while striking out 10 batters and walked just two in 12.1 innings of work at the Charleston Southern Softball Tournament. Jordan recorded a four-hit shutout against UMES in her collegiate debut and fanned eight batters in seven innings of work against the Hawks.
