Trippi received CAA Player of the Week honors after batting .462 to lead Hofstra to a 5-1 record last week. Trippi hit three home runs to help compile a 1.154 slugging percentage and a .556 on-base percentage, while driving in seven runs. The sophomore catcher played every inning behind the plate during the week and helped freshman Victoria Cabral pitch a complete game shutout in her first career start in a win at Lehigh. Also behind the plate, Trippi threw out one of two runners attempting to steal, and recorded 51 putouts without an error.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK:
Olivia Galati • Hofstra
West Babylon, N.Y./St. John the Baptist, Sr., Pitcher
Galati earned her second CAA Pitcher of the Week award after compiling a 4-1 record last week while pitching five complete games. Galati struck out 45 batters in 35 innings of work for a 1.60 ERA. The senior hurler registered 10-plus strikeouts in four of her five outings, including 12 in a victory over Iona. Galati surrendered no more than four hits in any appearances and only allowed three walks on the week. The West Babylon, N.Y., native leads the CAA this season with 178 strikeouts in 154.1 innings of work.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:
Jailyn Ford • James Madison
Hot Springs, Va./Bath County, Fr., Pitcher/First Baseman
Ford collected her third CAA Rookie of the Week accolade after helping James Madison to a 3-0 sweep of Drexel. Ford batted .500 in the conference series, going 4-for-8 with two home runs, a double, seven RBI, and four runs scored. The Hot Springs, Va., native hit her sixth homer of the season in the opener and followed it up with her first career grand slam in game two. The rookie also went 2-0 in the circle with a 0.72 ERA. She struck out 13 batters, while limiting her opponents to one run on three hits and walking six.
