CAA Softball Weekly Honors - March 20, 2012

PLAYER OF THE WEEK:

Paige Collings • Drexel
Delta, British Columbia/South Delta, Sr., Catcher

Collings earned CAA Softball Player of the Week after leading the Dragons to a 3-2 week while batting .533 at the plate. The senior catcher hit a pair of home runs and drove in 11 runs on the week. She recorded a hit in four of her five outings, including a 3-for-3 showing with three runs scored and six RBI against NC Central. Collings finished the week scoring five runs to go along with eight hits and two walks.  


PITCHER OF THE WEEK:

Olivia Galati • Hofstra
West Babylon, N.Y./St. John's the Baptist, Jr., Pitcher

Galati received CAA Pitcher of the Week after registering a 2-0 record and a save from the circle for the Pride as Hofstra went 3-1 on the week. The junior pitcher bested her previous career high of 17 strikeouts in a game, fanning 18 against Maine in a nine-inning effort. Galati threw back-to-back complete game shutouts on the week. She finished the week with a perfect ERA with just seven hits, including just one extra base hit, to go along with 31 strikeouts and one walk.


ROOKIES OF THE WEEK:

Erin Trippi • Hofstra
Lyndhurst, N.J./Paramus Catholic, Fr., Catcher/DP


Trippi collected CAA Rookie of the Week accolades after batting .333 while assisting the Pride to a 3-1 record on the week. She posted a combined 4-for-12 performance at the plate with four runs scored and five RBI in the four-game Hofstra Invitational. Trippi earned her first career RBI, sending the game-winning single to right field to end a nine-inning 1-0 victory over Maine on Saturday.


Heather Kiefer • James Madison

Potomac Falls, Va./Potomac Falls, Fr., Pitcher


Kiefer earned her second CAA Rookie of the Week honor of the season after recording a win and a save in the circle for the Dukes against George Washington and Pittsburgh. The freshman pitcher finished the JMU Days Inn Invitational with a 1.56 ERA, four strikeouts and just a .182 opponent batting average in nine innings pitched. She has produced an overall season record of 2-1 with a pair of saves.
