RICHMOND, Va. (October 1, 2013) – William & Mary senior distance runner Elaina Balouris collected CAA Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week honors for the second time this season, after cruising to a first-place finish at Saturday’s Panorama Farms Invitational in Charlottesville, Va.

Balouris not only ran the fastest 5K in the nation this past weekend, but finished with an impressive time of 16:31.8, breaking the previous course record of 16:59 (set in 2002) by more than 27 seconds. The No. 21-ranked Tribe, who finished second as a team with 67 points, were also led by sophomore Emily Stites’ third-place individual finish of 16:34.0.

Balouris also earned Runner of the Week honors earlier this season when she claimed the individual title at the Spider Alumni Open on Sept. 6.

In other CAA women’s cross country news, Northeastern’s Lucy Young led the Huskies for the second straight week, finishing the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown (5K) 35th individually with a time of 18:06.0.
