JMU captured its first CAA championship since 1994 with a 70-57 victory over Northeastern last March…The Dukes have won 21 games in three of the past five seasons under coach Matt Brady…Guard Andre Nation, who was a member of the CAA All-Rookie team, scored a career-high 24 points in JMU’s NCAA Tournament game against #1 Indiana. Nation, who has been suspended for the first 15 games this season, ranked 7th in the CAA in blocks (1.3 bpg) and 8th in steals (1.5 spg). He was one of only seven players nationally with at least 40 blocks, 40 steals and 40 assists in 2012-13…Sophomore Charles Cooke averaged 16.5 ppg in JMU’s two NCAA Tournament games last season…Senior Andrey Semenov, who averaged 10.2 ppg and shot 44% from 3-point range in 2011-12, returns for his sixth season after missing most of last season due to injury.

UNCW returns five players who started 17 or more games last season…Forward Cedrick Williams ranked 12th in the CAA in rebounding (6.0 rpg) and 6th in blocked shots (1.4 bpg) last season…In his first season with the Seahawks, guard Chris Dixon was UNCW’s second-leading scorer (9.8 ppg) and led the team and ranked 6th in the CAA in assists (3.3 apg). He scored a career-best 30 points against George Mason on Jan. 12…Senior Tanner Milson made a team-high 43 treys last season and ranks 10th on UNCW’s career 3-pointers list with 126…Coach Buzz Peterson has added a pair of former Division I head coaches to his staff with Eddie Biedenbach (UNC Asheville) and Houston Fancher (Appalachian State).
