Pairings Set For CAA Field Hockey Championship

RICHMOND, Va. (November 3, 2013) - The field is set for the 2013 CAA Field Hockey Championship after a spirited and competitive regular-season race came to a close on Sunday.

The four-team event will open in a semifinal format on Friday, November 8 and concludes with the title game on Sunday, November 10. All contests will played on the University of Delaware campus at the Blue Hens’ Rullo Stadium.

In the first matchup on Friday at 4:00 p.m., the host, #1 Delaware (14-4, 6-0 in CAA) will entertain #4 William & Mary (8-10 overall, 3-3 in CAA). Then at 7:00 p.m., #3 Northeastern (7-12 overall, 3-3 in CAA) squares off versus #2 Drexel (13-6 overall, 4-2 in CAA).

The tournament continues with the CAA title contest on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. with the victors from Friday's semifinal contests competing for the league’s title and automatic NCAA Field Hockey Tournament bid.

Video for both semifinal matches and the championship contest of the CAA Field Hockey Championship will be carried live for free in high definition on CAA.TV and CAA's iPad app. A free login will be required to view the games via CAA.TV on a computer or using the CAA's iPad app. The same free login link will be provided accordingly on the Field Hockey #CAAChamps Central page.

Delaware, which is currently ranked No. 19 in Division I, won its last CAA title in 2009. Drexel  is the defending CAA Champions after a 2-1 overtime victory over Northeastern a year ago in Philadelphia, Pa. The Huskies, who make their third straight appearance in the championship, have also appeared in the title game in back-to-back seasons. The Tribe is making their second straight appearance in the CAA Championship.
