RICHMOND, Va. (October 22, 2013) – William & Mary sophomore Emily Stites has been named CAA Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for the first time this season after leading the Tribe at the Pre-National Invitational last weekend.

Stites, a native of Wyoming, Ohio, interestingly also earned her one and only honor last fall following a similar performance at the 2012 Pre-Nationals. This past weekend, Stites led the Tribe and finished eighth overall with a time of 20:17.8 at the 6K premiere invite-only race. Stites’ strong performance helped William & Mary capture an eighth-place finish as a team.

In other CAA women’s cross country news, William & Mary senior runner Elaina Balouris earned a 12th-place finish in the same Pre-National race with a time of 20:24.2. James Madison sophomore Jenna Flickinger finished seventh individually at the Penn State Nationals last Saturday with an impressive time of 21:51.35. JMU earned a third-place team finish. Hofstra sophomore Becky Celorio rank a personal-best 22:29 for a 6K at the PSU Nationals and placed 18th.

The Tribe return in two weeks on Nov. 2, for the CAA Championships in Towson, Md.
