RICHMOND, Va. (February 11, 2014) – UNCW sophomore Jeff Laliberte was named CAA Men’s Swimmer of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.

Laliberte saved one of his better performances for the end of the season, earning first-place honors in the 200-yard butterfly and second-place honors in the 100-yard butterfly over the weekend at the Virginia Tech Invitational. The sophomore, who hails from North Providence, R.I., not only won the 200 fly by nearly seven seconds, but registered the fastest time in the CAA this season (1:50.64). Laliberte followed that with a second-place finish in the 100 fly, clocking a time of 50.12.

Fellow UNCW swimmer Valterri Halonen has won five weekly league swimming honors this season, while the men’s team in general has had a total of nine awards. Diver Allen Crosby is a three-time weekly diving honoree. The Seahawks are off until the CAA Championships, which take place from Feb. 26-March 1 in College Park, Md.
