RICHMOND, Va. (February 11, 2014) – A pair of freshmen, Northeastern’s Sophie Browne and James Madison’s Olivia Lehman, earned CAA Women’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week honors, respectively, on Tuesday.

Browne impressed over the weekend at the Connecticut Open, winning two individual events. The freshman registered a time of 2:05.21 to win the 200-yard backstroke, then cruised in the 400-yard individual medley in 4:31.09 to win first-place honors by eight-plus seconds. It’s the second straight week a Husky has been honored by the league after diver Candace Young was recognized on Feb. 4.

Lehman picks up her first weekly CAA honor after a strong showing at the Clemson Diving Invitational. On the one-meter board, the Ohio product scored a career-high 293.50, good for the sixth-best score in program history. It also helped her qualify for the NCAA Zone Diving Meet. Lehman scored a 234.85 on the three-meter as well. She became the fifth Duke to grab weekly diving honors from the league this season, joining teammate Taryn McLaughlin, who has won the nod four times.

Also around the league, UNCW junior Katie Lohr and senior Cameron Washburn each won the 100-yard freestyle at the Virginia Tech Invitational. Both hit the wall at the same exact moment, for a time of 53.02. Most schools around the league next compete at the CAA Championships, which take place from Feb. 26-March 1, at the University of Maryland in College Park, Md.
