RICHMOND, Va. (February 4, 2014) – A pair of Drexel sophomore standouts – Kyle Lukens and David Sanchez – helped the Dragons earn a clean sweep for the weekly CAA Men’s Swimming and Diving honors on Tuesday.

Both student-athletes are the first male Drexel swimmer or diver to be recognized by the conference for their efforts this season.

Lukens, a nearby Plymouth Meeting, Pa., product won two individual and three total events for Drexel over the weekend versus Lehigh. He won the 100 back in 52.04, a top-20 time in the league this season, then rattled off a solid, 50.61 second effort in the 100 fly. Lukens also swam a leg on the winning 400-medley relay team that registered a time of 3:25.52.

Sanchez topped both dives he competed in, recording scores of 263.40 and 316.58, respectively, on the one- and three-meter board. The Georgia native’s score in the three-meter dive was one of the best marks in the league this season.

Drexel competes one more time during the regular season -- the Cavalier Invitational this upcoming weekend -- before making a bid at the CAA Championships which take place from Feb. 26-March 1 in College Park, Md. Other highlights in men’s swimming action from around the league included William & Mary sophomore Will Manion’s first-place finishes in the 200 free and 200 back versus East Carolina.
