RICHMOND, Va. (November 12, 2013) –William & Mary sophomore Billy Russell and UNCW freshman Allen Crosby have been named CAA Men’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively.

Russell becomes the second straight Tribe swimmer to garner weekly league honors after Andrew Strait won the same nod last week. The sophomore single-handedly improved over each of his two individual events over the weekend, setting new personal bests in the 100-yard freestyle (46.03), 200-yard freestyle (1:40.47). He also helped the Tribe by anchoring the leg of the second-place, 200 medley relay performance in 1:32.18 and swam the leg in the 400 free relay, which William & Mary won with a score of 3:05.78, good enough for the eighth best time in program history.

Crosby has exceeded expectations in his young career already, registering his third weekly award of the season and second in as many weeks. At UNCW’s dual-meet with NC State, Crosby finished second in the 1-meter, scoring 270.75 and the 3-meter, with a total of 278.33. The freshman has won five diving events this season and three of the last four league diving honors.
