RICHMOND, Va. (October 8, 2013) – UNCW junior Valtteri Halonen and Towson senior Alex Cohen have been named CAA Men’s Swimmer and Diver of the week, respectively, after strong starts to the 2013-14 season.

Halonen impressed versus nationally ranked Tennessee this past weekend, finishing first in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:54.75, the same event which he won as the CAA champion last year. The Finland native also placed third in the 100 backstroke and third in the medley relay with times of 51.81 and 1:35.54, respectively.

Cohen, a senior diver for Towson, earned the weekly honor after contributing to the Tigers’ first-place finish at the Potomac Relays this past weekend. The Roslyn, Pa., native claimed the title in the one-meter diving competition with 282 points and also captured the three-meter title with 292 points.
