BOSTON, Mass. (Sept. 12, 2006) - The Northeastern University women's basketball team helped support the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation by volunteering at the 14th Annual Komen Boston Race for the Cure this past Sun., Sept. 10. “Succeeding in the community is as important to us as succeeding in the classroom and on the court,” said head coach Daynia La-Force Mann. “We were proud to be part of such a good cause.”
The team was responsible for the operation of the water station for the 3.1 mile Co-ed run and fitness walk that started on the University of Massachusetts’ Boston Campus. The Race had over 400 breast cancer survivors participating as the proceeds will go to fund local area breast cancer education, screening and treatment programs and will help fund the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation National Grant Program.
