WILMINGTON, N.C. – For the seventh consecutive year, UNC Wilmington coaches and student-athletes visited Alderman Elementary School early Wednesday as part of the school’s popular “Reading Rocks” program to promote reading to young students.

Representatives from eight teams joined men’s basketball coach Benny Moss and women’s tennis coach Jenny Garrity at the school, reading selected books to classes ranging from kindergarten to fifth grade.

UNCW’s student-athletes who participated included Hartley Collins (women’s tennis), Lauren Fuenning (women’s tennis), Christina Manrique (women’s golf), Ashley Tait (women’s golf), Carley Hughes (softball), Rachel Sawyer (softball), Shade Smith (women’s basketball), Sahsha Taylor (women’s basketball), Shaun Guderian (men’s soccer), Montez Downey (men’s basketball), Darryl Felder (men’s basketball), Jenna Evans (women’s soccer), Shannon Robertson (women’s soccer) and Sydney Rigsbee (women’s soccer).
