WILMINGTON, N.C. – The UNCW baseball team did its part recently to beautify Wilmington by spending early Saturday morning picking up trash and other objects along Interstate 40 as part of the state’s Adopt-A-Highway program.

Coach Mark Scalf and his team will be joined by eight other teams throughout the course of the year as UNCW’s student-athletes maintain a one-mile stretch outside the city limits. The baseball squad and eight other Seahawk teams will keep the area clean during an eight-month period.

In addition to the baseball squad, other teams participating include women’s tennis, men’s soccer, softball, women’s soccer, men’s swimming and diving, women’s swimming and diving and women’s basketball.
