CAA Men's Cross Country Weekly Honors -- Sept. 24

RICHMOND, Va. (September 24, 2013) – Hofstra senior Daniel Rono has been named CAA Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week after winning the 2013 Towson Invitational individual title on Saturday at Oregon Ridge Park in Hunt Valley, Md.

The Eldoret, Kenya, native finished first out of 48 runners, clocking a time of 26:02.43 in the 8K event. It was the third-fastest performance of his college career in a race of that length. Rono helped the Pride to a fourth-place team finish with 83 points in the seven-team Division I field. College of Charleston’s Adam Seften finished second in the race with a time of 26:14.59.

UNCW finished second at the event with 61 points, while CofC placed third with 71 points.

Other noteworthy performances included William & Mary’s David Barney, who finished third overall at the W&M Invitational 5K on Saturday. The senior helped the Tribe win the team title at the race and crossed the line in 15:45.2.
