U.S. Women's Amateur Update - UNCW's Adams
Richmond, Va. - UNCW women's golfer and rising senior Lori Beth Adams had her impressive run at the 2013 U.S. Women's Amateur Championship come to an end on Thursday at the Country Club of Charleston, in Charleston, S.C.
Adams, the 2013 CAA Player of the Year, advanced all the way to the round of 32, before falling to Kendall Prince (University of Arizona), 2 down, in the second round of the match play portion Thursday morning.
Adams had a strong showing throughout the week in her inaugural USGA Amateur appearence, battling through the stroke play and first round of match play portions of the championship.
The Burlington, N.C., native opened up the tournament on Monday with a two-over-par 73 (+2) and shot even par 71 on Tuesday, giving her a two-round score of two-over-par 144 (73-71). On Wednesday, she defeated Clariss Guce in a 2 up victory.
This past year, Adams enjoyed a solid junior campaign, compiling a program record with a 74.12 scoring average over 12 events. She also registered an impressive eight Top 10 finishes and five Top five results for the Seahawks en route to earning an individual spot in the NCAA Central Regional, where she finished tied for 11th out of 126 competitors.
