McGee earned a share of the CAA Player of the Week honor after scoring 10 goals in two games for the Hawks this past week. The sophomore posted a three-goal game in St. Joe's 9-5 loss to Penn midweek, then tallied a game-high seven goals in a 14-9 win over Mercer Saturday. On the year McGee leads the Hawks with 30 goals which also ranks second among the league standings behind UMass' Will Manny.
CAA MEN'S LACROSSE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kyle Smith, Massachusetts
Jr., A, Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow
Smith logged a share of the CAA Player of the Week honor thanks to his three-goal performance in the Minutemen's 14-13 win over Hofstra Saturday. The junior scored twice and passed out his two assists in the first half as UMass held an 8-5 lead at halftime. The Longmeadow, N.Y., native then tallied his third goal with just under 10 minutes left in the game pushing the Minutemen in front for good, and sealing up the top seed in the upcoming CAA Championships.
CAA MEN'S LACROSSE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Nick Saputo, Drexel
Fr., FO Spec., Huntington, N.Y./Huntington
Saputo earned CAA Rookie of the Week honors, stepping into the Faceoff Specialist role in the second half of Drexel's 13-5 win at Towson. The frosh was 7-of-8 in the half, giving the Dragons possession for much of the final 30 minutes which allowed them to outscore the Tigers 7-1 in the second half. The road-win for Drexel wrapped up a 4-2 league mark and the third seed in the upcoming CAA Championships.
