WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (December 12, 2011) -- The William and Mary Women's Basketball Team recently
visited Williamsburg Landing retirement community to visit and interact with
residents. SAAC representative Chanel Murchison noted, "This was an opportunity
for the team to mingle with members of the community that are a big part of our
fan base, and even some who are not. It was a great experience and we learned a
lot. It was awesome to hear their stories of events that we learn about in
history classes, but never get a first person perspective. We played games, and
sang Christmas carols as well. Overall, it was a beneficial experience for both
parties, and to top it off we had a lot of great laughs." The women's basketball team has a commitment
to participating in hands-on events in the community, with annual clinics for
physically challenged adults, meetings with young fans, and work at charitable
events, as well as working on SAAC-sponsored projects with other teams.
